All About Devin

Conversations with Devin:
Devin: "____is very nice."
Me: " What does very nice means?"
Devin: "...very nice means big
hugs and kisses.."
*****
Devin: " The moon is made of popcorn."
Me: "Who told you that?"
Devin: "Jimmy Gourd." (a character from the Veggie Tales)
*****
Devin:" I have an idea! I want to eat cheeseburger & pick up garbage all day."
*****
Devin: "I have an idea! I want quality stuff not junk!"
*****
Me: "...(Insert any thought)..."
Devin: "Why?"
(Devin is in his "why" phase)

Games Devin invented:
*In the Middle of the night...*
How to play: Devin pretends to be sleeping in the middle of the night & things (could be anything, real or imaginative) would come & wake him
up...The first time we played-he wanted me to get a disco ball to come & wake him up to dance. I said I didn't have a disco ball, then he said, "PRETEND!"
*****
*Astronaut Training*
He gets in a astronaut take off position (lying down with legs up & bended). And he tells you what mission he's going (e.g. Mission to Mars) but you have to give him an assignment (e.g. to collect rock samples to bring back to earth). Then you have to lift him up, pretending to be launching off a rocket...then let him complete his assignment & lift him up again for the trip back to earth. This involves a lot of lifting him up so it is basically an Andrew & Devin's game.

US Open-Kids' Day

We went to the US Open Kids'Day event last Saturday. Devin slept through most of the kids' activities, but he still had fun just being there. Serena couldn't care less as long as she was fed & well rested...

Happy One Month Old

Wow! How time flies! Serena is already a month old!? Enjoy the pictures.

Like Brother, Like Sister (1)

We've been told by quite a few people that Serena looks like Devin. So I pulled out Devin's one month old picture to compare...and voila! They do look a lot alike...how about that!

Late Night Confessions

I just had one of those days today or yesterday rather...it wasn't bad, really, just got out of hand towards the afternoon. I let Devin watched one too many DVD's & too much Noggins on TV...I couldn't get both kids to nap at the same time...ate a whole thing of kit kat AND a bunch of frosted animal crackers! When I bought those, I knew I would ended up eating them. And Devin decided he wanted to eat some yogurt & wanted to try different flavors and opened 2 containers...he had some from both but the left overs somehow ended in my STOMACH! And yes, all that and I had breakfast, lunch & dinner too. I probably had more junk food but I can't really remember...but after the yogurt, I think I just stopped remembering...Then I saw a text message that my friend sent me earlier in the day that she ate a whole quiche in 2 days (don't worry-I won't named names). I was thinking, only if she knew what I HAD in a day!

"Looking good, Olivier! Yep, don't worry buddy, I still have your candies...for now."

Summer Soccer Days

This past Saturday was the last soccer class for Devin. He really enjoyed going each Saturday morning and hanging out with Daddy afterwards, especially sharing lunches together. And I loved it when he comes home & tells me the lessons & drills that the coach taught him that day. My favorite one was, "don't put your hands on the ball" and when I asked him why, he thought for a moment & said to me "...because it's rude!"
We're thinking about enrolling him again for the late Summer/early Fall sessions, we'll see how it goes...

During one of the drills, hitting the ball with his head...
Devin playing with the cone when he was supposed to be listening to the coach...well, maybe he was multi-tasking...

Grandma's Visit

Last week Andrew's mom was here for almost a week to help us out. According to Devin though, Grandma was here to see him, "just Devin, not Serena". lol...we know better. Grandma bought us groceries, cooked our dinners & hung out with Devin. Once in a while when Devin isn't looking, Grandma got to hold Serena. Just kidding, but we do see when the j-e-a-l-o-u-s-y kicks in-in Devin when one pays more attention to Serena. And on the other end, he gets protective of her; I took them to the playground, and Devin tries to push Serena's stroller away with him whenever someone gets near her. It was pretty funny to watch. Devin also likes to help me out with Serena's bath, drawing the bath water and bringing me soap and lotion afterwards.
Anyway, I'm getting side tracked here talking about Grandma's visit...(see what a sleep deprived mind does to you?!) Andrew's mom had a great visit. And we enjoyed having her...so a BIG thank you to you, mom! Hope you caught up with your sleep & got your energy back after hanging out with Devin.

Farewell to the DeGeus Family

We've had several of our friends moved from NY to elsewhere in the past year or so. I swear we are not the reason why...we showered daily & we taught Devin to spit only when they're not looking! (j.k.) But we always forget to take our farewell pictures! This time when the DeGeus family said good bye about 2 weeks ago; conveniently came to our home where we have our camera handy, we were able to take some shots. Our best wishes & many blessings to the DeGeus's: Kristin, David & Stella, where they begin a new chapter in their lives in the Netherlands.

Random Pictures & Updates

We haven't been taking a lot of pictures of Serena...but here are some that we did take last week. Serena is growing steadily, she gained back her birth weight (and then some) at her last check up which was last Wednesday. She might seem small & delicate, but don't let her size fooled you, she belches like a truck driver! Even when Devin was small like her, he never belched like THAT! And oooh, she can cry! She basically just opens her mouth & lets all her vocal chords do all the work. If we had a decibel scale to measure, it would be off the charts. But that magnitude of crying only happens once a day, at most, at the time being. We'll keep you posted.
