Memorial Day Weekend

For the Memorial Day weekend, we drove to Virginia to see my sister Connie & her family. We had such a good time since we haven't seen each other for a couple of years. And it was great to see Devin interacting with his 2 cousins, Sylvia & Kyle. We made it to my sister's house at 3:30am early Saturday morning, my sister was gracious enough to let us wake her up & get us settled in. Then after a few hours of sleep, we went into DC to visit The Smithsonian museums. First stop, the Air & Space Museum. Then we walked around the Enid A. Haupt Garden, around the Washington Monument, aka "The Pencil", around the Capitol and the Hirhhorn Museum & the Sculpture Garden. We walked by a lot more museums, but were too tired to see anymore that day. Afterwards we went to where Yin, my brother-in-law works to have dinner. He's a chef there & he made us a fabulous meal.
The following morning, we went to Chuck E. Cheese (Devin's first time) and did some shopping afterwards. Yes, we took it easy rather than going to strawberry picking as we thought we were. Connie is not big on walking around and we made her walked enough the previous day.
We had so much fun, Devin didn't really want to leave. Then he asked me if we could bring Kyle & Sylvia home with us. And the kids were so funny, Kyle asked Connie why does Devin have "bushy" hair...and Sylvia wanted to know if his hair was "naturally messy"...LOL...I guess it's time for Devin to get another haircut.

Pit Stop

On our way home, we made a pit stop at the Harley bike shop in Delaware. Andrew & Devin just loved all the boy toys inside the shop. Good thing I don't drive, otherwise I'll ended up driving the car and Andrew riding a new hog for the rest of the trip home.

Entertaining himself in the back seat.
Watch out American Idol!

Checking out his new toy.

Andrew's only souvenir from this place
(ok-he bought a shirt).

My 29th Week Update

Went to the doctor on Tuesday for my check up. The doc said I'm doing "beautifully" except I'm a little anemic. The cut off point was 11.4 and my number came in 10.4. The doctor said it's not unusual, I could either take iron pills or have steak more often...he forgets that I'm a vegetarian. Anyway, with Devin, I was borderline anemic (I was off by .1). And this time, maybe I haven't been diligently watching what I eat, so instead of being borderline, now I am anemic.
I looked up some iron-rich food, clams(3oz cooked, 23.8mg)is one of the highest. Beef liver & braunchweiger-5.3mg. What the heck is braunchweiger?! Doesn't sound like a vegetable or an alternate form of tofu, so I guess I won't be eating it. How about drinking molasses (it says blackstrap, what?) It has 5mg in one tablespoon. Hmmmm. I think I'll stick with my tofu (which has a high content of iron), spinach & beans...tofu with cereal, anyone?

Last Day of School

Last Thursday was the final day of the Mommy & Me class. Instead of the usual schedule, we (yes, the parents included) just ate & played for the entire hour & a  half. And all the kids received goodies bags from most of the parents & the teacher. It was like Christmas! I know Devin will miss going to the class every Thursday-I know I will!

This is only showing half of the party scene.
There were about 17 kids plus parents.
Playing parachute in the gym.
Concentrating on the slide.

A Birthday Celebration

On Saturday, it was Devin's playground buddy Ian's 3rd birthday party. What a beautiful day! All the kids seem to be having so much fun and even us, the adults were enjoying ourselves. Devin did not want to go home even after 2 1/2 hours of fun. But his nap was way overdued...

Happy Birthday, Ian!
Playing & sharing construction trucks.
Hanging out with Olivier.
The boys invented their own game, soapy water in an empty container...
"Graduating" to the "Big Boy" swing!

The Fun Continues...

After Devin's nap, we took him to the circus. It was his first time and he seem to enjoy the acts. I think he might have liked it even more if there were more animal acts (we only saw horses & some poodles).

The circus is in town.
Smiling for the camera after the show.
Making a new friend after the circus at the park.

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day, I had every intention of treating my mom to dim-sum. But my older brother, Hon decided he wanted to treat all of us(who could make it there), stating that "family gatherings, priceless." Afterwards we went to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (again, Hon's treat). We used to go there when we were kids, so it was nostalgic to be there as an adult with Devin. Then we all went back to my mom's for dinner, Hon bought most of the food (again!). But I sneakily (sort of) went out & got dessert (mango ice cream) for everyone! I know my mom had a great time, even though she doesn't openly expresses her feelings. I know I did.

My oldest sister, Winnie & my mom at dim-sum.
Winnie always looked so youthful, you never would have guessed how old she is!
Strolling along...
My younger brother Chun Man, Andrew, Devin & Hon.
My oldest niece Sandy, Mom & Sam.
My favorite flowers there, the peonies.
Some blooms were as big as Devin's head, if not larger!

Tribeca Film Festival Family Event

After visiting the dentist for his very first time this past Saturday, Devin is ready for some fun. So we took him to the TFF Family Event afterwards. He fell asleep for the 1st hour we were there, but for the remaining 3 hours, he had a great time. From all the sport sponsors, arts & crafts tents, all kind of good eats, and performers, we were tired. But Devin would've stayed longer if we let him. Oh yeah, we also ran into some celebrities...but they weren't very talkative. Oh well, maybe next time.

Yep, that's Steven & Leo! They both looked really bored.
He just scored a goooooooooaaaaaaaaaaal!
Take a guess who the winner is...
Getting some tennis tips from a pro.
Hockey with Daddy.
Shooting the hoop-and yes, Devin made a 2 pointer.
Firefighter Devin-for about 20 seconds.
A restaurant along the venue.

Time Flies...

OK-I'm going to be 26 weeks pregnant this coming Monday and all's well at my 25th week checkup. This pregnancy seems to be going by so quickly. Sometimes I don't even feel like I'm pregnant until I see my reflection. But I find myself using the excuse of being pregnant to have some ice cream almost everyday, have a little more during meal time and take a little nap when Devin is napping. And someone said to me today, "yeah, wait 4 more weeks and see if you'd still say the same..." LOL...I should just count my blessings & be happy that I'm still able to do almost everything rather than wondering about it.
And our baby girl just received her first present, little ballet slippers from the Kolmetz's. I'm pretty sure Lauren picked these out. They are so adorable I almost wanted to get a pair of my own...in black.
